Back to Basics: WHY? Drinking water

"What do you, the trees, and a hamster have in common? Give up? You all need water. All living things must have water to survive, whether they get it from a water fountain, a rain cloud, or a little bottle attached to the side of a hamster cage".

WHY from kids health website

This is not a joke))). It is just something light and funny to start with.

As I've promised you in my earlier post, first in the series BACK TO BASICS, I am continuing this thread and adding one more question
WHY

Why do we need to drink water? From Better Health Channel's point of view

Reasons why we need to drink water

Why we need to drink it every day?

There are many theories as to HOW MUCH  WATER we need to drink PER DAY. I seem to adhere to 30ml/1kg of weight (remembering that a human body produces at least 1.5 l of urine per day - we need to replace at least this amount).

Why coffee, juice, soft drinks, energy drinks are not enough?

Once again, there are a number of theories on whether or not tea/juice are hydration or not. However, there is a general consensus that Soft Drinks, Alcohol, Coffee and sweetened Tea are not going to give you much in terms of re-hydrating your body (let alone your cells)

I, however, am a firm believer that ONLY WATER hydrates you and does it without spending much energy. All other drinks need to be processed, broken down to micro-parts and then absorbed - spending your energy (minerals, etc.) to do so. So, just think about it.

Or put it simply: WATER IS HYDRATION, everything else is FOOD

and Why do we need to choose carefully what water we drink?
  • we need plenty of water
  • we need clean water
  • we need water that will be absorbed by our cells without much exertion
  • we need water that won't get 'stuck' in our kidneys and will give us swollen legs in the morning
  • we need water that will help our cells with their everyday processes
  • we need water that won't just wash through but actually work inside of our bodies
WHAT water is that? There are many choices. There are many reasons. Stay tuned
